KIMBERLY MONGEAU

Welcome!! I'm glad that you could join me! I've been working on this site so that communication amongst students, parents, and the community can be improved. On my site you have access to a variety of areas which hopefully will keep you posted on the latest happenings in our class, school, and community. Here you'll find help with identifying homework assignments, planning for activities and events, accessing support from the community, accessing support for American Sign Language, and other pertinent links for you and your child to use as enrichment for the topics we are covering in class.

A little about myself. Originally from Orlando, FL and a graduate of Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL, I moved to Alaska and have been teaching in the Anchorage School District since 1988. I started out as a teacher in a multi-aged, self-contained class of students with varying hearing, cognitive and academic needs. In 1995, my classroom was merged with the State School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, where I continue to teach today. I love the challenges that my job presents. I love having the opportunity to truly bond with my students and their families as the children grow and stay within our small deaf community. It is extremely satisfying to see the successes of the students as they become young adults attending college or becoming contributing members of society. I hope to continue in this line of work for many years to come!
