Building Literacy Coach

Welcome! My name is Mrs. Binek and this is my 15th year at William Tyson Elementary. I taught
second, third and fourth grade for five years in a tiny Eskimo village near Bethel. Prior to teaching, I went to college in Oregon, where I received my Master's in Education in 1996.

While teaching full-time at Tyson, I got my endorsement in reading. I became Tyson's Reading Coach in the spring of 2004 and now I
am called the Reading Facilitator. My job includes working with students, teachers and tutors in grades K-3. It is so fun watching kids learn to read! I do teacher trainings, observations in classrooms, and support teachers in
any way I can. I also organize and implement assessments which help teachers plan for and teach reading interventions.

We encourage all parents to come to school as often as they can. If you would like to volunteer to read to students before
school or during lunch, I would be happy to set up a time when you can come in and work with children.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help your child learn to read. You can reach me at 742-8000.

I hope to see all of you soon!
