Hello wonderful parents and students of Scenic Park Elementary!
I am Ms. Carolyn Smith the new music teacher at Scenic Park and I am excited about the school year
ahead of us. I have just moved from Honolulu, Hawaii to Anchorage and I think my new home state is
beautiful. I have taught general music and choir for the past nine years and I hope to share the music
of Hawaii in my classes.
I have been trained in Orff Schulwerk, a method of teaching music, so my students will be singing,
moving, creating their own music and playing lots of instruments to explore and learn more about music.
In addition I will be offering a choir to grades four, five and six so keep your ears open for future
practice times and I hope to see a lot of singers!
