Welcome to the Cook Inlet Tribal Council language arts classes page!
Cook Inlet is a guest program at Bartlett and offers language arts, math, science, and physical education classes. Our CITC team includes 10 teachers and staff. Our task is to get Alaska Native and American Indian students to come to school, stay in school, pass the HSGQE, graduate, and go on to productive lives in the community. We bring culturally relevant information and activities into class work whenever possible. Our classes are smaller than those of the regular progam, with 20 students maximum for each class. We are happy to have your student enrolled in our classes.
I teach Language Arts 9, generally a study of the elements of literature using world literature; Language Arts 10, a study of early American literature; and Language Arts 11, a study of American literature from the Civil War to the present. Included in all language arts classes are practice in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students do projects periodically to help show understanding of the characters and themes of the reading we do.
