Welcome to another year of Physical Education at O'Malley Elementary. You will find that there are lots of ways for you and your child to become involved in the gym. Students in grades K-2 will continue to have PE for 30 minutes three times each week, while students in grades 3-6 will again have PE for 45 minutes twice each week. Before and after school activities are offered with cross-country running and soccer in the fall, Native Youth Olympics and basketball in the winter, ice-skating during February, volleyball in the spring and Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart every other year. We also have an all school cooperative Sports Day in May that I invite any and all parents to become involved in. We are a participating school in the Healthy Futures program that helps students log their exercise time outside of school. Exercise logs are given to students 6 months of the school year, and incentives are given to them along with extra credit in PE when they are returned. We also have have class competitions for free recess time for the class with the highest participation.
