With the first quarter nearing an end, most of the students now have instruments. If your child does not, please take steps to acquire one. All of the local music stores have good rental programs. However, if you are going to need a school loaner instrument, please get the supplies needed for that instrument first-- pencil, notebook, rosin (available from any music store), and a clean soft cloth. The latter is used to dust rosin off of the instrument, so it doesn't have to be anything fancy. Any old clean, lintless, soft cloth will do. When the child shows me that he or she has the necessary supplies, I will provide an instrument responsibility form. When the form comes back to me, I will go get an instrument. By the end of the quarter, all students should have an instrument.
There is a new website available for the children in my classes to use at home. It provides the accompaniments to many of the songs we play. You can find it here: www.turtlepuddle.org/StringMagic/

My personal website can be found here: www.turtlepuddle.org There's nothing musical there, but lots of info on Alaskan wild flowers, berries, butterflies, dragonflies, and hiking trails. It's also a fun place to visit if you are interested in turtles from around the world. It is educational and child-safe.
