Thank you to all who took time to come out for parent-teacher conferences last week. It always means a lot to meet so many of you and find out/share vital information about your son or daughter! Please feel free to contact me any time with questions, comments, or feedback. Here are a few important things coming up in the near future:
*** Symphonic Band uniforms are being checked-out this week to be worn on Thursday. Please ensure that your son/daughter has the appropriate black pants, shoes, and socks as well as a collared white shirt to go with the jacket, cummerbund, and bow tie that are provided. Thank you!***
Thursday, November 5 - Symphonic Band will be playing at the Little Theater Dedication Ceremony. Students need to be in the SHS band room by 5:45pm to set-up/warm-up and we will play prelude music starting at 6:10 and then the feature piece during the ceremony After the ceremony (at 7pm) ALL BAND STUDENTS are invited to our fall social event: pizza and ice cream provided by band council will be happening in the band room. Concert band students may come at 6pm to the dedication for make-up points if desired.
Wednesday, November 11 - Jazz Band will be traveling to Hanshew Middle School for our annual Jazz Band Exchange. We will leave SHS by bus at 6:40am and return during 2nd period.
Thursday, November 12 - Music Department & ROTC Picture Day All band & percussion students will be having class pictures taken IN UNIFORM. Please remind your son/daughter to bring their full uniform that day.
Thursday & Friday, November 19 & 20 - All State Music Festival @ Chugiak This year we have 7 students representing the Service Band and 14 total going from our music dept! Congratulations to the following members:

Saturday, November 21 - All State Music Festival Performance @ West High's Auditorium, 6pm; ticket price is approx. $5 This is a great way to earn make-up credit! As it is a longer concert, it will be worth 3 absences.
Sunday, December 6 - Tuba Christmas @ the PAC, Atwood Hall - 2pm
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9 - WINTER BAND & PERCUSSION CONCERT @ EAST High's Auditorium, 7pm; FREE ALL band and percussion students will need to be at East by 6:15pm to get warmed-up and set-up
Tuesday, December 15 - All Quarter 2 make-up work and practice records are due
Thursday, December 17 - Last day of Semester 1
