I am the mother of three wonderful children, Nehemiah, Evelyn, and Lilyan. I am married to an Air Force veteran, Gavin. We have been married for almost ten years, and have exchanged vows in 25 states, and three countries. I have been an avid reader and writer all my life, and published a children’s book, Peachy Penelope, for my own children in 2009. I wanted to be a teacher since the first grade, and am passionate about education. One of the best parts of teaching is the enjoyment which comes from learning alongside my students I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching in Secondary Special Education and Reading from Morningside College. I am a graduate of Peru State College with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Middle Grades Education with an emphasis in Social Studies and Language Arts. I am endorsed in Reading K-12, English K-12, Language Arts K-12, Middle School Generalist (can teach all core subjects), Social Studies K-8, and Special Education 7-12. I currently teach students through courses in English and Reading. I have experience teaching students from preschool through college level, and have had the opportunity to teach in different states, grade levels and content areas. I have a quirky teaching style, comfortable learning environment, and embrace the "weird" label with gusto! My favorite quote is; "Believe in yourself; everybody else is taken."
