CHRISTOPHER MORE

WELCOME TO CHOIR!!

My name is Chris More and I would like to welcome you to the Hompage of the Romig Middle School and West Anchorage High
School Choral Programs. My wife, Mrs. More, and I were both born and raised in Anchorage and have four wonderful, "fury"
children; our cat Tucker, two ferrets Giacomo and Goober and, the newest addition to the family, our puppy Carmen. I'm a
proud product of the Anchorage School District, received my Bachelors in Vocal Performance from the University of Kansas
and my Masters in Arts of Teaching from UAA, and am excited and honored to be the new Director of Choral Activities at
Romig and West Anchorage.

In my Choir room, your kids become "student-singers." (Much like a "student-athlete.") These student-singers learn the fundamentals of music theory and history, teamwork, discipline, self-assessment, dedication, responsibility, and of course, the
art form of choral and solo singing. As do most choral directors, I take personal responsibility for the well-being, attitude, vocal
quality and on-stage appearance and etiquette for my Choirs.

Since the "success" of choirs is determined by live performance at concerts and festivals, it is our goal to turn both of these
programs into competitive, and eventually the elite, choral programs in the State of Alaska. I have exceptionally high standards
for all my singers and I hold all my choirs- middle school and high school alike- to these standards. We are also working to
change the negative reputation that has lingered for so many years and gain the respect that both of these programs deserve.

My teaching philosophy, personality, and style of teaching choral singing is unique and challenging, but I believe my singers
benefit greatly from the experience, not only as singers/musicians, but also as human beings. As a teacher, my primary goal is
to teach and help turn my singers into respectful, educated, responsible, well-rounded humans and positive contributors to
society. ...and, of course, to love, appreciate and respect all forms of music.

Please feel free to contact me via email or at 742-5293 with any questions regarding the choral programs at Romig Middle
School or West Anchorage High School.
