2nd Grade Class

Welcome to a new school year at Chester Valley. I am very excited to be here and look forward to being with your children this year. There
is so much to learn and discover and practice. I can’t wait to get started!
I am looking forward to meeting all parents at our Open House on Friday, August 18. I encourage student’s families and loved ones to join us
in class and be a part of their child’s learning. If you would like to help out in our classroom, I will have a calendar sign up sheet near the door.
Whether you wish to sign up for a particular time or not, please feel free to come in any time. You are always welcome.
I would like to tell you a little about myself. I was born in Igloo, South Dakota but moved to Kodiak, Alaska in 1965. I received my Bachelors in
English in 2000 and my Masters in Education in 2003. I have been a literacy teacher for the last three years. This is my fifth year
teaching and I am extremely confident and excited to teach your children.
This month in class we will be devoted to getting to know one another, the school rules, creating our own class rules, and developing a
sense of community within our classroom. I will be sending another letter home soon notifying you of our music, PE, library and computer lab
schedule, as well as a more detailed description of what we are going to be learning throughout the year.
There are a couple of things that you should know right now. We are going to be having a snack break each day. Students may bring in their own snack if they choose. I am providing the snack the first few days, after that I will send home a monthly schedule. Most students will only have one day a month to bring in a snack for all students to enjoy. No sugary snacks please!
Each day your child will be bringing home a home-school folder. If there are any papers for you to sign, or homework to complete, it will be in this folder.
Please note the supply list below. If you have not yet purchased the supplies needed for your child, please do so as soon as possible.

1 large box Kleenex 4-pack fine point dry erase markers
1 pair heavy duty pointed scissors 1 pair of gym shoes w/name
2-2oz bottles of white glue school bag or backpack
1 hard-plastic supply box, 1 1' hard backed folder
1 box of crayons (24) 4 large 2" erasers
2 dry erase markers, 2 Pee-Chee style pocket-folders
1 package colored pencils 2 fine point Vis-à-Vis markers
1 box each Ziplock baggies;
1gallon,1 sandwich
