I am the school nurse at Susitna and have the privilege of assisting with the health care needs of students and staff and as well as parents when asked. I can administer prescription medication for students when they have a valid medication form on file signed by their health care provider. I can also give over-the-counter medication when there is a form signed by a parent on file. Routine medication forms and OTC forms can be downloaded downloaded the forms section on the main ASD website. You will haver to bring the medications you want your child to have at school in the original prescription bottle or the OTC medication bottle. Please make certain your child does not bring medication to school. you must bring the medication to the nurse and pick it up at the end of the year. All medication not picked up is discarded. No medication should be at school that is not authorized. Asthma inhalers and epi pen are the only medications the student can keep with him or her and only if the studentís healthcare provider has given the student the authority to carry it. It is not only unsafe for a student to carry unauthorized medication but it is also against ASD policy. Please help us keep your student and all other students in the building safe. If there is anything I can do to assist with your child's healthcare needs or assist in any other way, please do not hesitate to ask. It is a joy being the school nurse at Susitna and working with such a caring staff and great children. Again, do not hesitate to ask if there is anyway I can avail myself to you. Sincerely, Anne McCarron (Nurse Anne) 742-1401
