KIMBERLY BECKETT

Welcome to the Inlet View School Nursing Homepage

I am in the nursing office from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. There are times when my hours flex due to other student needs. If you need to talk directly to me, please call before coming to school.

As we begin another school year, here are several health policies that parents need to be aware of.

Guidelines for keeping children home from school:

Fever- Over 100 degrees F. Your child should be fever free without the help of medication for 24 hours before returning to school.

Diarrhea/Vomiting -Keep your child home if they have either of these within the last 24 hours.

Colds- As long as a child has symptoms (runny nose, frequent cough, sneezing) he/she is contagious and should be kept home. This is especially true during the first three days of symptoms. This is also particularly true for younger children because they tend to be less attentive to covering their mouth when they cough and washing their hands.

Pink Eye- Children cannot come to school while their eye is draining or if he/she wakes up and their eye lashes have "crusty" residue. The child may not be touching their eye while it is still red. If they are unable to keep their hands away from their eyes, they will have to stay home until the irritation is gone.

If they are ill, keep them home to rest and recuperate. Do not send them to school to be "checked by the nurse". It is unfair to expose other healthy students to unnecessary germs.

If a parent ever has a concern or question about health related issues, please call Nurse Beckett at 742-7638
