Welcome to the Hanshew Middle School band site. My name is Julie Lucht, and I've been a performing musician since I was 6 years old (almost back to the dinosaur days)! As you can see by the photo, I most recently performed with James Brown at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have been teaching music since age 16, privately and in public schools. My primary instruments are piano and flute, and I have been a performing member with the Alaska Chamber Singers in the recent past. Thank you for allowing me to teach your young teens. General Info: While I have set concert dates for SY 2012-13, please be mindful that sporting events/inclement weather can cause these dates to change (sometimes suddenly). Your patience and consideration are very much appreciated. All pertinent information concerning band will be contained in the Curriculum/Grading Policy document handed out the first week of school for each student. The final page of this document is an expectations contract which should be signed by a parent/guardian and the student. Only this signed page should be returned to me by the end of the first full week of school for your child. Hanshew Middle School has a limited number of school-owned instruments for rent, and the rental agreement will be sent home with your son/daughter based upon need and/or interest. Please be certain your email is up to date and entered correctly by the front office, as I use this to keep parents/guardians properly informed. Thank you! Frau Lucht Upcoming Concerts: April 15, Monday – Area Festival at Service High Gym, Period One band members and Jazz Band members only (this is a graded activity for period one) 5:00 pm - set up crew meets in the SHS gym - extra credit points awarded 6:40 pm sharp! – Period one (Symphonic band and Jazz Band) meet in the SHS orchestra room for warm up. Uniform: black dress pants with Hanshew band polo tucked in Equipment: instrument, sheet music 7:30 pm – concert begins 8:30 pm – concert ends, students promptly travel home April 25, Thursday – Spring concert, all bands, Hanshew gym (this is a graded activity) 2:50-3:30 pm – set up crew meets in band room – extra credit points awarded 6:30 pm arrival for all band members in band room Uniform: black dress pants with Hanshew band polo tucked in Equipment: instrument, sheet music 7:00 pm – concert begins 8:00 pm – concert ends, students promptly travel home April 26, Friday – Schoolwide concert in the morning.
