ANNA BONDARENKO

Dear parents, family members, students, and friends!

I am pleased to be your child's teacher this year and am confident that together we will provide the needed support and instruction to promote progress and maximum achievement! Students will be working towards their individual goals within the Anchorage School District required curricula.

Math:
The math replacement curriculum is Connecting Math Concepts, with supplementation by the individualized Math Whizz computer program.

Reading:
For reading instruction, we have a variety of tools for addressing individual student's needs. The Houghton Mifflin Language Arts core curriculum, Extra Support level will be implemented through the Ashlock direct-instruction method. In addition, the multisensory Barton program will be offered as needed, as well as the computerized programs Lexia and Waterford.

Writing:
Writing will be addressed through vocabulary development, phonemic awareness, and word structure within the Houghton Mifflin curriculum (Ashlock method). Ideas, organization, and sentence structure will be taught using StepUp to Writing materials. Students will produce a final copy of their writing, using the Story Jumper program.

Social skills:
Social skills will be addressed through a school-wide Social Emotional Learning approach and through individual social story maps and behavior plans, as needed.

Technology:
Modern technological devices and software will be implemented throughout the day as much as possible to enhance students' learning and to develop 21st century communication skills. An interactive Smart Board will be used for Ashlock presentation, for practice of introduced skills, and for reinforcement of presented materials. Lexia, Waterford, MathWhizz, and Storyjumper are used for enhancing students reading, writing and math skills. I Movie, Photobooth, Fun brain, and other interactive educational tools are used as positive reinforcement.

Communication:
Due to confidentiality considerations and individual needs of each student, no specific personal information will be posted on this website. Please do not hesitate to e-mail, call, or stop by if you have any questions or concerns. Maintaining ongoing open communication is essential to achieving our common goal--assisting each student in performing at his or her highest level of potential.
I am looking forward to another productive, sometimes challenging, and always rewarding year with your child.

Respectfully,
Anna Bondarenko
