Welcome to preschool!
My name is Robyn Meyer and this is my 22th year teaching. 17 of these years have been in preschool special education. I enjoy working with our youngest learners and feel very strongly that early intervention works for students who experience developmental delays or disabilities.
Preschool Special Education classes are offered in select elementary schools throughout the Anchorage School District. Northwood ABC currently hosts 3 special education preschool classrooms.
SPECIAL EDUCATION, PRESCHOOL CLASSROOMS
To be admitted into our Special Education Preschool program, students must demonstrate delays in their communication, motor, behavior, self-care, or social skills. If you have concerns about how your child, moves, speaks, understands directions, behaves, or interacts with others, you can contact the Child Check program at the Early Intervention Services Center. Their phone number is 742-2655. They offer both screenings and testing of preschool-aged children to determine those that might have delays in development or possible problems with their ability to learn. If identified, the district will place children into a special education program that would best serve their needs. Programs are typically located as close to the child's home school as possible.
