System Preferences in Mac OS X provides a single place to go to customize your Mac. Once you find the system preference you want to adjust, click its icon. The System Preferences window will change views to show the preference you selected.
In the System Preferences toolbar, you’ll notice several preferences that also appear in the categories below. These preferences are always available no matter what other preference is showing. You can drag frequently used preferences to the System Preferences toolbar. You can also rearrange preferences and delete those you don’t want.
