Using Dock Magnification and Hiding

If you want the Dock to take up less space onscreen, you have a couple of options. One option is to reduce the Dock to its smallest size. To make items easier to see at this size, you can turn on magnification, which enlarges the part of the Dock your pointer is over.
 
Another option is to hide the Dock. When hiding is turned on, the Dock appears only when you move your pointer to where the Dock would be if it were not hidden (left, right, or bottom of the screen).
