When you’re writing a letter or an email message, the last thing you want is for it to have a misspelled word. Certain Mac OS X applications, such as TextEdit and Mail, for example, take advantage of the spelling checker built in to Mac OS X. Misspelled words are automatically underlined in red dots as you misspell them. Once the application identifies a word as misspelled, you can quickly correct it. Also, if the word is in fact correctly spelled but the application simply doesn’t recognize it, such as a friend’s last name, for example, you can easily add the word to your dictionary.
