Sending an instant message to a buddy is simple. If your buddy is online, simply double-click their name in your buddy list, and then type your message. In the message window, you’ll see all the messages you and your buddy type back and forth.
When you receive an instant message, it appears in a small window on your screen, and the iChat icon in the Dock changes to indicate how many new instant messages you have. You can choose to accept the message and start chatting, or reject it by simply closing the message window.
