myASD is a feature of the Anchorage School District's web site that allows you to customize an ASD web page to keep the links and information you want at your fingertips. Using myASD, you can build a list of teacher and school Web pages that, subscribe to homework notification and school news e-mail lists, keep track of homework assignments and stay up to date on district news.
How to use it
Create an account
Use the link below to register for myASD. You will need to choose a username and password, and you will need to supply a valid e-mail address. You will have the option of receiving text-only e-mail or HTML e-mail. (You may change this option at any time after you have completed your registration).
After you submit the registration form, a confirmation message will be sent to the e-mail address that you supplied. This message will contain a confirmation code and a link to a page where you can complete your registration.
Upon confirming your e-mail address, you'll be sent to the log in page.
Create your page
There are a few ways to add items to your page. After you log in, you'll be taken to your page, where you will see three different boxes: Classes, Schools, and District News Headlines. At the bottom of the Classes and Schools boxes, you'll see large orange buttons with "Add Classes" or "Add Schools" next to them. Clicking on one of the links will take you to a form where you can search for teachers or select schools from a list.
As you add each class or school, you will be given the option to be added to an e-mail list for that class or school.
You may also add classes and schools to your page from the class or school homepage. For example, if you are visiting the homework page for a class, you'll see a box labeled "myASD" on the right side. That box will have a link in it that will allow you to add the class to your page. You'll see the same box on all of the school homepages on the ASD website.
Use your page
The Classes box gives you a link to the teacher's home page and the class homework page. You will also see a flag if new homework has been posted since you last logged in. You may also add yourself to or remove yourself from the homework announcement email list for each class by checking or unchecking the box next to the class name.
The School box will give you a link to the school's home page and a check box to add yourself to or remove yourself from the school's e-mail announcement list.
District News box
A list of headlines from the four most recent District press releases and e-mail announcements.
On the right hand side of the myASD banner, you will see two links: "Options" and "Log Out".
The "Options" link takes you to a form where you can change your password, the e-mail address where class and school announcements are delivered, and the format of the e-mail announcements that you receive (HTML or plain text).
The "Log Out" link ends your session. You can also end your session by quitting your browser.
