The Anchorage School Board named two finalists in its search for the next superintendent. The candidates are:
Board President Kameron Perez-Verdia said the board received more than 80 applications for the position from around the country and here in Alaska.
“We are excited about the quality of applications we received for the next leader of our district,” said Perez-Verdia. “The search firm indicated this was among the strong pools of candidates they’ve seen in a long time and we’re very pleased the top two candidates are Alaskans.”
The two finalists, Atwater and Paramo, will participate in a full-day, on-site visit next week to learn more about the district and speak with students, staff, parents and community members.
A community meet and greet opportunity will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 at Bartlett High School. All are invited to attend. Each candidate will have 45 minutes to give remarks and have an opportunity to answer questions from the audience. A video recording of the meeting will be posted to the district’s website the following morning.
Each candidate’s resume and a community feedback form are available online at www.asdk12.org/superintendent/search.
