ASD principals Karen Wallace and Marcus Wilson named Junior Achievement Educators of the Year


Award to be presented at the Alaska Business Hall of Fame at the Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center, Thursday, January 24, 2013

 

Anchorage, AK – On Thursday, January 24, 2013 – ASD Principals Karen Wallace and Marcus Wilson will be presented with awards for the 2013 Junior Achievement of Alaska Educator of the Year at the Alaska Business Hall of Fame in a ceremony to be held at the Dena’ina Civic & Convention Center. Junior Achievement of Alaska, Inc. and Alaska Business Monthly are the Title sponsors of this event.

 

Karen Wallace, Principal of Northern Lights ABC, and Marcus Wilson, Principal of North Star Elementary have been strong supporters of Junior Achievement and its mission to give Alaska’s youth workforce readiness skills, encourage entrepreneurship and strengthen financial literacy. Both principals have implemented JA in a Day in their schools, creating bridges between the business community and the classroom. They were among the first whole-school sponsorships in Alaska, which bring volunteers into the classroom to teach Junior Achievement. North Star Elementary partners with Wells Fargo for this annual event, and Northern Lights ABC partners with ExxonMobil.

 

The 27th annual celebration includes a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m., Dinner & Induction Ceremony at 6:30 p.m.. The evening will also include a special recognition of the many past inductees who will be in attendance. Individual tickets are $150, limited sponsorship opportunities are available.
