Students to perform state's largest band and orchestra concert

Sonic Boom! celebrates its 17th year

More than 2,000 sixth-grade beginning band and orchestra students will play their instruments together in Alaska's largest concert. ASD's Music Department presents the 16th annual Sonic Boom! performance at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2 at the Sullivan Arena.

Admission is free and open to the public. Thousands of parents, families and community members traditionally attend the concert.

This year's performance will include musical selections such as "Hiney Ma Tov," "Rain Dance," "Ptarmigan Ptango" and Beethoven's "Ode to Joy."
