The Anchorage School District is in the process of reviewing new materials for United States Government and AP United States Government for 12th-grade students.

“The last time we adopted resources for Government curriculum was in 1999 when Bill Clinton was President of the United States,” said Pamela Orme, ASD Social Studies Coordinator. “We are looking forward to having new curriculum support that includes 21st-century tools and skills.”

Orme said the district is interested in resources that can be used on multiple platforms, allow students to use their own devices to access the textbook from anywhere in the world, and support the district’s diverse learners.

The public is encouraged to take part in the review process and provide input during the following open house opportunities at the ASD Education Center, 5530 E. Northern Lights Blvd.

  • Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2-7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 10, 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The materials selected by the district will be used beginning next school year.
