The Anchorage School Board named Dr. Deena Paramo as the next superintendent of the Anchorage School District. The school board will vote on a three-year contract for Dr. Paramo at its 6:30 p.m. meeting tonight.
“Dr. Paramo is an innovative and compassionate leader with a strong commitment to public education,” said Anchorage School Board President Kameron Perez-Verdia. “The board was particularly impressed by her energy, innovative ideas and student-focused thinking.”
Dr. Paramo is currently the superintendent of the Mat-Su Borough School District. She started her career in education 25 years ago as a teacher.
Her contract with ASD will begin on July 1 with some transition work taking place in May and June.
