The following news release is shared on behalf of East High School.
East High School will host a grand opening for its new football stadium on Saturday, August 27. Following the flag football games, festivities will kick off at 2 p.m. with a tailgate party barbecue hosted by the EHS Activities Office, followed at 4 p.m. with the first home football game of the season. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at halftime.
The ceremonial ribbon will be cut by football team members from the classes of 1986, 1987 and 1988 who three-peated as state champions with a 29-game winning streak. All alumni team members will receive a memorial game ticket. Alumni team members are encouraged to RSVP to Assistant Principal Josh Green at email@example.com.
Funding for the stadium’s field and bleachers was appropriated by the Alaska Legislature. Funding for the score board was donated by alumni of the class of 1988, in honor of East High School and the 1986-88 Alaska State Championship football teams.
