For the 8th consecutive year, Inlet view young readers participated in the international reading celebration, Read for the Record. “It is a celebration where one title is read to as many children as possible on the same day,” said Inlet View teacher-librarian, Cindy Mans. “The 2017 book selected was Quackers by Liz Wong. “A cat who thinks he’s a duck? He must be Quackers!” The fun book about friends at the pond helps children understand “…friends do not have to be all the same.” The story themes, said Ms. Mans, “identity, acceptance, and understanding,” are important for young readers. Throughout the Read for the Record program, over 2 million children have participated every year.
“In Inlet View’s tradition,” explained Ms. Mans, “Quackers visited the school and read the story to every classroom.” Quackers!
