Students to perform state's largest band and orchestra concert

Sonic Boom! celebrates its 18th year

Nearly 2,500 sixth-grade band and orchestra students will perform together in Alaska's largest concert. ASD's Music and Fine Arts Department presents the 18th annual Sonic Boom! performance at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30 at the Sullivan Arena.

Admission is free and open to the public. Thousands of parents, families and community members traditionally attend the concert.

This year's performance will include musical selections including traditional favorites "Yankee Doodle" and "Frere Jacques" to pieces from Dvorak's "Symphony #9," theme from "Mahler's Symphony #1", Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" and "Ptarmigan Ptango."
