Live coverage of each of the eight comprehensive ASD high schools will be available online once again this yea. As soon as a direct Web address for the videos becomes available, it will be posted at http://www.asdk12.org/parents/graduation.asp. The graduations also will be shown live on ASD-TV cable channel 14, which is available to GCI cable subscribers. Class of 2011 graduating with nearly $40 million in scholarships

Thousands of students are completing what may be the biggest accomplishment in their lives--graduating from high school.
"We are very proud that we have more ASD high school students earning a diploma than ever before," said Mike Henry, executive director of High School Education. "It's a testament to the dedication of the students, their families and teachers, along with the many educational programs that help ensure students graduate from high school."
ASD's graduating class of 2011, made up of 3,323 seniors, has been offered at least $39.9 million in scholarships and awards from local and national universities, companies and organizations.

ASD principal named Alaska Distinguished Principal
The Alaska Association of Elementary School Principals recentlyannounced its Alaska Distinguished Principal for 2011 is Barbara Nagengast, principal of Homestead Elementary School in Eagle River.
Barbara was nominated and selected by her fellow principals through a statewide search process conducted by AAESP. Read more.
