Students can access assignment and attendance information online

In September, all students will be issued a username and password for StudentConnect, a Zangle function similar to ParentConnect, which debuted last year. It will provide students with access to their assignment, attendance, demographic and marks information.

"We'd also like to remind everyone that there is an option in ParentConnect for contacts to request e-mail notification for assignments, attendance and class news," said Mary McKean, Zangle manager.

If the contact has an e-mail on file, this option will send an e-mail when there is an assignment, attendance (absent or tardy), or class news entry that applies to the contact's child.
Though teachers could choose whether to use the Zangle gradebook last year, they will be required to use it this year.

"We encourage parents to use ParentConnect to monitor their child's progress throughout the year," she added.

Parents/guardians should contact the school directly if they have lost or forgotten their Zangle PIN/password.

Parents of middle and high school students should be able to access all Zangle ParentConnect features now. Parents of elementary students will be able to access all ParentConnect features on the first day of school.

ASD responds to parent and teacher feedback

Many parents and teachers have told us that the week after spring break is too late in the year for parent-teacher conferences. We think they're right.

Starting this year, spring parent-teacher conferences will be held in February, before the end of the third quarter. This will provide enough time for parents to work with their children to improve any academic or behavioral issues. Report cards will still be issued in March.
