About the district and our schools About the district and our schools

Once you know what school your child will be attending, you'll want to learn more about it. Or perhaps you'd like to know about a school first. Our Profile of Performance document has general district information as well as report cards with detailed information about each school. Additionally, many of our schools have web sites of their own that describes their day-to-day life. The Choices in Education section has descriptions of the different alternative programs that ASD offers. Our Demographics department has information about membership, ethnicity, and the Capital Improvement Plan.

Registering at the school Registering at the school

When transferring your kids, you will need to bring to the school a copy of their transcript and a copy of their health record showing their immunizations. You can tell their current school that these records are for enrollment purposes only. After they are enrolled in a school here, the Anchorage school will contact the former school to have the official records sent directly from school to school.

It's important for high school students to not have a lot of time between withdrawing from their former school and enrolling here. Each of the days they are out of school is counted as an absence and our high schools have a strict attendance policy. Depending upon the school, that is anywhere from 8 (Bartlett and West because they use block scheduling) to 15 (the other four high schools) days. When a student reaches the maximum number of absences in any class they may not earn credit in that class.

Health Services and Immunizations Health Services and Immunizations

The Anchorage School District has specific immunization requirements that must be met before children can attend school. Our Health Services web site has more information about these requirements, including enrollment health forms.
