Next state-assigned testing days
|
It is important for your student to do his or her best on tests; they provide important information to teachers. The results are used to refine classroom programs so they best meet your child's needs.
Grades 3-9 take the Standards Based Assessment in the spring
Students in grades 10-12 must pass the High School Graduation Qualifying Exam
Tenth-graders take a combined HSGQE/SBA test
The High School Graduation Qualifying Examination (HSGQE) measures minimum competencies of essential skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. Passing all three sections of the HSGQE is part of the requirements to receive a diploma in the State of Alaska. The HSGQE is administered twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. |

The Standards Based Assessments (SBA) in grades 3 through 10 are designed to estimate the degree to which students have mastered the Academic Performance Standards for reading, writing, and mathematics outlined in the Grade Level Expectations. SBAs are administered in the spring only.
