Comeau's tenure one of longest in nation, most respected

The Anchorage School Board accepted Superintendent Carol Comeau's resignation, effective June 30, 2012. The board appreciates the one-year notice Comeau provided as it begins its search for her successor.

In her 11 years as superintendent, Comeau has provided strong and highly regarded leadership. Under her guidance, several district programs, initiatives and departments continue to receive national recognition. The board appreciates Comeau's dedication and advocacy for ASD schools and the success of its students throughout the community.

"The board will immediately begin developing a search process for a new superintendent," said board President Gretchen Guess. "The focus will be on a superintendent that can effectively lead this community's schools and students to success. More information on the process will be shared with the community once it is developed."
