Creating Successful Futures (CSF) Program
About the program
Creating Successful Futures (CSF) is a highly structured, districtwide, short-term program designed to empower "at-risk" K-6 students to make safe and positive choices. Teaming with schools and parents, CSF equips students to develop the courage to change and achieve academic social success.
CSF began in the 2000-2001 school year through a federal grant from the Department of Safe and Drug Free Schools. CSF targets all 25,000 elementary students in the district. Emphasis is placed on building a school-wide system that addresses all students and staff in all settings. Positive school-wide discipline plans have been implemented in 95% of ASD elementary schools and data show that these schools are seeing dramatic reductions in disciplinary referrals and suspension, with concurrent increases in student achievement.

While the the positive school-wide discipline plan meets the needs of the majority of students, there are those that need more support than the school-wide system can provide:

CSF I provides an early intervention for kindergarten through third grade students whose behaviors are such that a targeted intervention is necessary to change anti-social behaviors to pro-social behaviors. This highly structured, districtwide, short-term program designed to empower "at-risk" K-3 students is continuing at College Gate and Northwood Elementary in the 2007-08 school year.

CSF II is a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Intensive program for 4th through 6th grade students who have difficulties with anger control, problem solving, and social skills that interfere with their success in school.
