Creating Successful Futures (CSF) Program

CSF I: Early intervention for K-3 students

Publications

Our brochure gives a program overview and list of contacts.

The Parent Handbook offers advice and tips.

The CSF I program can provide assistance to students who have difficulty in getting along with others, avoiding work, or demonstrating inappropriate school behaviors. This program serves students who are not necessarily special education students, but rather a student who can change behaviors in a relatively short period of time. In some cases the program is also available to special education students.

The program is best described as a "Turn-Around Model." This means that students are provided with a classroom environment that has well designed, research-based interventions that can bring about sufficient behavioral change in a relatively short period of time to enable these students to return successfully to their neighborhood school.

How it works

Day-to-day schedule
Students will be transported with ASD buses to the site to attend school from 9:00 - 3:30 daily. During their six to eight week stay, they will work on targeted behaviors already discussed with teachers and parents in an initial meeting at their home school.
In the classroom
Staff at the site will integrate concentrated social skills lessons into their normal academic day. Students will earn their way from the intensive site room into College Gate/Northwood classrooms to practice their improved skills.
Returning to the home school
After students have successfully worked their way through the CSF I program, parents, teacher, and counselor will again meet to discuss the behavior plan used to transition the student back. The transitional counselor will visit the home school to offer support to the student and teacher, and also share social skill activities with the entire class.
