Service High School was completed in 1971 with small additions in
1983 and currently has 305,000 square feet. Service was constructed as a
combination high school and junior high. It is concrete masonry unit
construction and in relatively good condition. It is in need of program
modernization. Current enrollment at Service is 2300.

April 2001
Proposition 12 on the April 2001 ballot included
our most critical needs. Those needs didn't go away once the votes
were counted. The district
will continue to do everything they can to
improve our aging crowded facilities because all students deserve to
be in an environment that is conducive to
learning. Below is a description of what
was on the bond for this school. Proposition 12 failed.
-
Phase IIa: Continues the renewal project by renovating one wing
of classrooms, upgrading the boiler plant and electrical systems, installing
fire sprinklers and continuing site work.
-
Upgrade of electrical systems to support computer technology and
improve interior and exterior lighting.
April 2000
Phase I will provide for the highest priority
renovation needs of the school. It includes renovation of the science
classrooms and bringing the
science facilities up to current educational
standards. Utilities and life safety systems will be upgraded along
with wiring to accommodate technology.
Site work will also be done. Proposition
13 passed.
