Clark Middle School Replacement
In April 2007 voters recognized the
need for renewing Clark Middle School and approved funding for replacement. Clark was overcrowded and could not meet students’ academic needs. Many
students were learning in relocatable classrooms. Some classes were held in hallways and some
one-on-one instruction occurred in closets. New in 1959, heating, ventilation, plumbing,
and electrical systems were reaching the end of their 50-year life.
The new Clark Middle School
Transition raises questions and prompts comments
While the construction of our new school is very exciting it can also raise many questions
and concerns.

What is a "middle school"?

Having to interact with as many as 900 different people throughout each day could be overwhelming. Therefore Anchorage junior high schools changed to middle school about ten years ago and the change has been beneficial to students and teachers. Learn more about middle school »
