Frontier Spirit: Maine to Alaska
Description from Elizabeth Busch
My concept is symbolic of congregation and movement, visually paralleling what will happen every day at Begich Middle School. Morning will find students and adults pouring into the lobby from buses and cars to begin their daily adv entire in learning. Opening and closing doors and bustling students entering the lobby area, will stimulate air currents to set in motion the individual units. The art work in the hallway is a continuation of the lobby, but now the work disperses, slows down, thins out as do the number of people passing. The fixed sculptural pieces become more thought provoking and may have identifiable imagery to beckon viewers back. The rotating pieces will move more slowly as the air currents are not as intense here. The rotating pieces will move more slowly as the air currents are not as intense here. Sunlight from clerestory windows will sometimes project colors on walls and floors.
