Hi my name is Karla Scherbaum. I have been an Anchorage School District teacher since 1995. During that time I have had the pleasure of teaching third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students at Ptarmigan Elementary School. I am so excited and thrilled to now be a part of the Begich Middle School staff teaching my first love – Math. I love that special part of my job watching the “light bulb” turn on for students who suddenly understand a concept and can feel successful.
I have a strong connection to the Muldoon Area community which goes back to when I was a senior at Bartlett-Begich High School , a member of the first graduating class, and continuing through the years to when my own daughter and son graduated from Bartlett High School in 1999 and 2002. In my off hours I enjoy traveling, suduko, reading, gardening and quilting. I have just recently entered into one of the most enjoyable stages of life – grandparenthood. I have a new grandson in Chicago, a new granddaughter in New York City and my third grandchild will be born in May right here in Anchorage. |
