Service High School Plans
In April 1997 voters approved funding for planning and preliminary design for the renovation and renewal of Service High School. The 1997-98 planning process included development of the District-wide High School Educational Specifications, which the School Board approved on June 8, 1998. During the summer and fall of 1998 work began on the development of a Master Plan and Supplement to the District-wide High School Educational Specifications required for the upgrade and renewal of Service High School. The Supplement to the Educational Specifications was intended to: provide site specific information not contained in the standard Specifications; indentify selected standard Specification options; and document variances to the standard Specifications for approval by the Department of Education and the School Board. The variances were necessary to allow the additional Service High School building area required for compliance with the District-wide High School Educational Specifications. On May 22, 2000 the School Board approved the Conceptual Master Plan and the Supplement to the District-wide High School Educational Specifications for Service High School. In order to minimize school disruption, the Master Plan has identified four design and construction phases for the renovation and upgrade of Service High School.
