I am Julie Austerman. I have been helping learning disabled students achieve success for the last nine years. I have a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education and a Special Education endorsement from Southern Oregon University. I am passionate about working with middle school students and enjoy working with other teachers as a team member. My philosophy of education is based on the “3 R’s” – responsibility, respect and results. I believe all students can learn and be responsible for their academic achievements. I believe all students, parents, and educators deserve respect. I try to encourage acceptance and courteous behavior in my classroom. I believe when students apply skill and concepts, use resources and technology, and demonstrate the ability to communicate and acquire problem-solving tactics, they achieve results. When students feel safe, accepted and valued, they achieve their best potential. I recognize that parents, guardians and the community are important reinforcement for students and play a valuable role in improving education.
