I am excited and honored to serve as the Assistant Principal of Nicholas J. Begich Middle School. I am proud to be part of such a dedicated and professional staff. I am also excited to meet and work collaboratively with students, families, educators and community members as part of the first Begich Alumni.
I come to you from Whaley School, where I worked as a teacher, vocational coordinator and school advocate for the past seven years. My assignments at Whaley School were unique and provided me an opportunity to calmly interact with the public under stressful conditions. I enjoy working with teams and look forward to contributing to student and staff success. My previous jobs have been in management with a mental health agency, youth residential programs, and as a guidance worker for California juvenile corrections.
My wife and I are prior Air Force and have lived in Alaska over 25 years minus two years spent in California. We have two sons that attend local public schools and enjoy the many opportunities offered through the Anchorage School District. I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended public school there. I received my Bachelors degree in Vocational Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and my Masters degree in Vocational Education from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
I enjoy sports and coaching youth football. My other hobbies are reading, “fixing old computers” and listening to jazz music. I like to keep it simple and try to live by a quote from Mark Twain that said, “Always do the right thing, this will gratify some people and astonish the rest”. |
