My name is Addy Lozano. I am a middle school science teacher who loves doing hands-on, active learning that helps students to challenge themselves and set high expectations through critical thinking and problem solving. Many different life experiences have led me towards teaching. After receiving a fisheries science degree from Oregon State University, I went in the Peace Corps to Paraguay, South America and worked with a community as an environmental educator. After returning to Alaska, I worked at a field station in Kachemak Bay across from Homer as a naturalist and taught marine biology and forest ecology. In Anchorage, I have done volunteer work in salmon education at different schools with Alaska Department of Fish and Game. I then explored substitute teaching for two years in middle school and I went back to college as a graduate. I have a Masters in Teaching for grades K-8 from Alaska Pacific University. I have taught for one year in the Anchorage School District as an eighth grade science teacher. I am very excited to teach science to sixth graders for this new school year at Begich Middle School!
