Manuel Macedo

Manuel MacedoI was born in Peru, South America (The Land of the Incas), after completing my first year of college; I decided to leave my warm and loving family in search of new horizon, adventure, and perhaps richness in America (The Land of Opportunity). A few years later after surviving the streets of New York City, I decided to go back to college. I enrolled in the Environmental Science Program at New York City College with an emphasis on high-rise buildings (boiler, heating, ventilation design and operation.)

During the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipe Line, I decided to move my family to Alaska in hopes of working on the Alaska pipeline; instead, I was hired by ASD in maintenance and later as a BPO building plant operator. Unable to continue with the Environmental Program in Alaska, I switched to education. I worked during the day and went to college at night. It took me several years with dedication, and hard work to finish that goal, and in 1990; I was hired as a teacher.

Working with children for the past 17 years with the Anchorage School District, and teaching Conversational Spanish to students and adults for 10 years with the University of Alaska Anchorage, has broadened my knowledge of education, and enriched my life as a human. I love to work with students, I love teaching, and I think I can make a difference.
