I love science and I love teaching. I taught seventh grade science at Central Middle School of Science for eleven years. For the last three years, I taught Biology and Natural Science of Alaska at East High School. Prior to teaching I was a physician assistant for ten years. As a physician assistant I worked in western Alaska and on the North Slope.
I was born in California and moved to Alaska in 1976 as a VISTA volunteer. I have degrees from Occidental College in Los Angeles, Northeastern University in Boston and University of Alaska, Anchorage. I am a third generation Japanese-American with a large extended family, who still live in California. I have been married for 25 years and have two sons in college (both attended ASD schools from K-12 and received an excellent education). In my spare time I love to go to movies, travel, garden and do puzzles. I speak a little Japanese, Spanish and Yup’ik. Education has always been a priority in my life and I look forward to teaching at Begich. |
