Current News The kindergartners have been busy in the past week. In addition to our weekly "letter of the week" activities we had a visit from a full size "parrot." "Salty the Parrot" is one of the characters from our big book called The Animal Island. He came to our class during the "letter P week." We also celebrated Read-In Day by having a pajama party with popcorn to top it off. Our next letter of the week will be "Q" We have had one field trip to the fire station this year. We are looking foward to having a teddy bear picnic since we will be starting a bear unit next month. We are having a lot of guest speakers like a geologist, police officers, and wildlife rangers. We started a unit on penguins that will last two weeks. We are studying where penguins live, what they eat, how they take care of their young, and other interesting facts. The students will be learning penguin songs, finger plays, graphing and estimating penguins in math. We will also be doing a penguin cooking project and art project. |

Health News Dr. Koropp and his staff came to talk to our class about dental health. A Charlie Brown video shared information about dental care. |
|
| Then we broke up into small groups and rotated into six centers. We were able to get impressions of our thumbs to simulate getting a tooth's impression. There also were centers with information about orthodontics, a flossing role playing center, a frog puppet sharing good dental hygiene, and a healthy versus bad snacks center. We learned so much from their visit. . | |
