Why the Earth Spins
Once upon a time, there was a giant named Frank. When he was born he weighed 215 pounds! At the age of five his head was higher than the clouds. He grew, and grew, and grew. One day he got so big that in one step he could cross the United States! He went to school just like any other kid, he played sports, he got a B average, and he loved McDonalds (he had to eat 50 quarter pounders to fill him up).

One day after gym, Frank decided to run. Of course he was too big to run on a treadmill, so where else could he run? He went outside and thought. He thought, and thought, and thought. Then it came to him! He would run around the world! So he started running. He got faster, and faster. Before he knew it, it was bedtime. He didn‘t care, he kept running. Then he felt this strange feeling under his feet. He stopped running. He was still moving! The earth was moving! A while after he had stopped, the earth was slowing down. “ Maybe I was moving the earth”, he thought. He ran home to tell his mom. “Mama, mama the earth is a giant treadmill”, he said. His mom thought he was crazy until she saw him run. A few minutes later he returned. She was amazed. “ Maybe the world is a giant treadmill”, she thought.
To this day Frank still runs around the world, and that’s why the earth spins.
