The Second Annual Moseyin' For
Macs Fundraiser Walk |

"Talkin'
the talk and walkin' the walk"
|
|
Wow! All I can
say is, "Wow!" The Second Annual Moseyin' For Macs
was the biggest one ever! OK, so it is only the second of many
Moseys to come, and yet...
For those of
you who are unaware of or know nothing about Moseyin' For Macs,
perhaps a little history is due?
|
|
Several centuries
ago, Viking Shaman prophesied an event, which was to unify and
modernize all elementary school fundraisers. It was, at the time,
known by the Norsemen as, "Ya. Ya Moseyin' fer Macs, Ya!"
(Norsemen were notorious both for their misspelling of the word
"for" and their propensity for overusing the word "Ya"). |
 |
 |
| The notion
of fundraiser walks was, of course, not new. Who can forget Caeser's
immortal words: "Veni, Vidi, Walki." Of course, we
all know of Caeser's healthful nature, what with his own line
of salads and all... |
 |
|
...However, it
is Julius' propensity for fund raising that helped him make such
a lasting mark on the world.
Caeser, or rather
CV as he was often called after the Vandals were fond of calling
him posthuously for obvious reasons... CV took it upon himself
to make Rome the center of civilization, and when his mighty
army finally conquered the Fund-raise-alot tribes of the Northern
Plains early in his 12th year of imperial rule, he took all of
the credit for, what he liked to call "fundraising."
|
|
It is obvious
that the Norsemen had no love for all of CV's impositions. For
example, what use has a Viking for a Caeser Salad? Everyone knows
Norsemen were incredibly lactose intolerant. To this day, you
will find Swedes and Danes alike feel alienated by CV's use of
parmesan in an otherwise dairy free anti-pasta. Needless to say,
this aggression spawned the Laplander's widespread choice of
Lutefish as a delicacy (no pun intended).
|
 |
 |
|
|
But,
no one ever imagined the Vikings holding Lutefish fishing fundraisers... |
|
Well, they, the
Vikings that is, did have a time when not a wee would pass without
some kind of a raffle... |
|
Suffice it to
say, the concept of, "Ya... Ya Moseyin' fer Macs, Ya,"
was reintroduced to the world in the Spring of 2002 with, surprisingly,
no Roman Senators and only one Viking in attendance.
Moseyin' For
Macs, as it now is known, was, is and will continue to be a fundraiser
walk. Our event organizers goal is to improve the quality of
technology resources for every child at Chester Valley Elementary.
And, that is
the story of how CV has changed the course of fundraising history.
|
|
This year's Mosey
was very lucrative; we made big bucks. More than $7,500 was generated.
Chester Valley will spend this money to purchase a new server,
multimedia projector and continue to upgrade its lab for a one-to-one
student-to-computer ratio of iMacs and eMacs. |
|
...But
none of this would have ever been possible without the incredible
help of the students, staff and community. It is really spectacular
to see what can be accomplished when people pool their resources
to promote a good cause.
Thank you all
for your help, contributions and effort. You are wonderful and
we are grateful :-)
