On Thursday, January 16th, Chester Valley hosted its annual Spelling Bee. The competition was fierce, as were the competitors. Word after word they spelled-- some correctly and others close, but just not as close as they had to be.

 " S-U-P-E-R-C-A-L-I-F-R-A-G-I-L-I-S-T-I-C-E-X-P-I-A-L-I-D-O-C-I-O-U-S:

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!"

"Correct..." "Incorrect..." The intensity was palpable!

All the while, the crowd full of anxious onlookers cheered, gasped and awed. Some had favorites for whom they were fans, but most were just excited to witness the spectacle.

 ...And then only four remained.

 ...Then only three.

... And then only two remained on stage.

The spell-off was reduced to a duel between two contestants. Mr. Andrew, the Bee's pronouncer, paused to clarify the rules for the remainder of the competition.

Unfortunately, there could be only one winner, and it all came down to one word: E-M-E-R-A-L-D.

Congratulations AJ, William, and all of the other competitors in this years marathon spelling bee. Ya'll did awesome and should be very proud.
