Circulation Policies

Books and magazines may be checked out for 10 school days. Books may be exchanged during regularly scheduled weekly classes, or during independent check-out times in the library. Books may be renewed as needed.

Parents may establish a library account and check out materials for helping children at home. In addition, a small selection of parenting books is available in our Parent Resource Collection.

Some parents or guardians may consider some materials in any given collection objectionable for their children. To address this, parents have the opportunity to provide an author or title - specific restriction message to their individual student's teacher and librarian for entry into the computerized check-out system. If the system is used to check out any book, a "note" marker comes up on the screen. This cannot guarantee that a book will not be taken out, but a good faith effort will be made to comply with parental wishes. If you wish to place a restraint on certain books, please drop me a note via e-mail, or through your classroom teacher.

Overdue Books

If a child has an item that is overdue, she/he will not be allowed to check out any library materials until the item is returned and report cards will be held.

Lost books must be paid for according to the Anchorage School District's policy which is currently $17 per hardback and $6 per paperback book in order to receive a report card. When the book is found, the money will be refunded.
